The Hate U Give

Angie Thomas's The Hate U Give is such an amazing book, it is hard to believe it is her debut novel.  Ms. Thomas writes voice so well, that the universal coming-of-age concerns of the sixteen year-old protagonist, are juxtaposed with this much larger social issue of prejudice.  It is a timely social commentary, and soon to be a movie.

Love and Gelato

Love and Gelato is a delightful young-adult novel by Jenna Evans Welch.  Set in Tuscany, Italy  much of the action takes place in the birthplace of the Renaissance, Florence.   For a mature teen in your life, this book has romance, mystery, and grief, all presented in beautiful, descriptive language.  I read most of it outside while enjoying pizza.  Molto buono!

Happy reading,
Christine

Happy June

“I wonder what it would be like to live in a world where it was always June.”
